Fault Lines Links – Dekalb County Indicts Officer In Anthony Hill Shooting
Jan. 22, 2016 (Mimesis Law) — Happy Friday folks – your news this morning:
- A Dekalb County grand jury indicted Officer Robert Olsen on all counts including murder for the fatal shooting of unarmed, naked veteran Anthony Hill in March 2015. The officer was responding to a call that a naked man was acting strangely, when Hill allegedly charged at him leading Olsen to fire his weapon.
- Former Oklahoma Officer Daniel Holtzclaw was sentenced to 263 years in prison for the assault and rape of 13 black women while on duty.
- The family of black teen Vonderrit Myers Jr shot dead by white St Louis Officer Jason Flanery in 2014 have filed a wrongful death suit. Flanery, who has since resigned from the police department, claimed he believed Myers to be armed which caused him fear for his life and shoot his weapon.
- A lawsuit against one of two Chicago cops in the 2013 shooting of Cedrick Chatman has been dismissed following the release of video evidence last week. The footage shows that Officer Lou Toth had no opportunity to stop Officer Kevin Fry from pulling the trigger.
