Fault Lines Friday Fail
July 15, 2016 (Fault Lines) — Are you busy planning activities for the next two days? Are you chomping at the bit, waiting for the end of your work week? That means you’re ready for the most wonderful time of the (almost) weekend, the time when we at Fault Lines bring you the Fault Lines Friday Fail. Our contributors worked especially hard this week to bring you the most insightful commentary from the blawgosphere, and now it’s time for our readers to have their say.
The Fault Lines Friday Fail is our weekly reader-selected “prize” to the criminal justice system’s most monumental failure as offered by our Fault Lines contributors. Last week’s “winner,” by an unprecedented slim margin (one vote), was Appalachian Judicial Circuit Judge Brenda Weaver for her inability to take journalistic criticism. Check out this week’s top 5 fails and then pick your favorite, remembering every vote counts.
- Fox News managed to find the dumbest “firearms expert” in the world in Jennifer Barringer.
- The NRA was too busy courting cops to condemn the death of Philando Castile.
- Houston Cop Kenneth Troost can’t even cook up a good DWI arrest.
- A DoD agent wanted to be Oakland sex worker’s Celeste Guap’s pimp.
- Bryton Mellot’s arrest is so stupid it burns.
There’s only one cardinal rule of the Fault Lines Friday Fail: You can’t vote if you didn’t read the post. Don’t worry; it’s cool. We’ll wait. And while it’s not a rule, we’d really, really appreciate if you would do us a solid and tell us what made your choice the biggest failure of the week. Come on, we’re giving you the chance to tell people why you’re right and others are guilty of being Wrong On The Internet. Why wouldn’t you exercise that privilege?
Before you go, we seriously want to know: Did we leave out the worst fail of the week? If so, let us know. It’s cool. By the way, if you see something fail so bad it should be in next week’s Friday fail, let us know on Twitter at @faultXlines with the hashtag #FridayFail so we can check it out.
We look forward to hearing from you. And have fun.
