Fault Lines Links – Jury Clears SF Cops In Alex Nieto Death

- A jury found that four San Francisco officers did not use excessive force when they shot and killed Alex Nieto. Officers shot Nieto, a security guard at a nightclub, over 50 times after they mistook his taser for a gun nearly two years ago.
- Chicago is set to pay a combined $830,000 to settle to police misconduct lawsuits. One case involves the illegal strip search of three men in broad daylight; the other, is a suit brought by Marlon Pendleton who spent ten years in prison for a rape he did not commit.
- Baton Rouge, LA, Officer Robert Moruzzi was found by a seven person jury to have used excessive force on Brett Percle during a drug raid in 2014. Moruzzi stomped Percle’s head and knocked out his teeth during the encounter. Percle will receive $25,000 compensation.
- The video of alleged police misconduct by Wausau, WI, officers was released. Pavion Phillips claims he was unfairly detained and racially profiled when he was approached by Officer Jacob Chittum. Phillips suffered non-fatal injuries from the incident in November 2015.
