Fault Lines Links – NY A-G Sues Over Troy Police Shooting Of Edson Thevenin

- NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a lawsuit against Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel Abelove with the aim of forcing Abelove to turn over the investigation into the police shooting of Edson Thevenin. Officer Randy French fatally shot Thevenin earlier this month after he tried to flee a traffic stop and hit a police vehicle.
- Volunteer reserve sheriff deputy Robert Bates was found guilty of second degree manslaughter in the fatal shooting of unarmed Eric Harris in Tulsa last year. Bates claimed he mistook his stun gun for his firearm.
- 14-year old Dedric Colvin was shot and wounded by a Baltimore police officer on Wednesday after his BB gun was mistaken for a semi-automatic weapon.
- Palm Beach DA announced on Wednesday that the case of the police shooting of unarmed Corey Jones will go before a grand jury. Jones was shot and killed by Officer Nouman Raja, who was in plainclothes and an unmarked vehicle, who claimed he was investigating an abandoned vehicle when he was confronted by “an armed subject.”
