Fault Lines Links – Texas Officer Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting Of Teen

  • Off-duty Texas Officer Ken Johnson, who shot and killed 16-year old Jose Raul Cruz and wounded Edgar Rodriguez has been arrested on charges of murder and aggravated assault.
  • Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman stated that a grand jury will not decide whether the police shooting of Jamar Clark was justified. He further announced that end the use of grand juries in these instances. Clark was shot in the head while handcuffed by officers, sparking protests across the country.
  • A Rhode Island federal judge has granted permission to Luis Mendonca to pursue a police brutality lawsuit against the city of Providence and its police department. In 2009, Mendonca was beaten while in handcuffs, leaving him in a coma.
  • The York, PA, District Attorney ruled that two officers who shot dead De’Quan Lynn in October were justified. The officers opened fire after Lynn allegedly threw a knife and then charged at them.
