Are Criminal Laws the Right Response to Revenge Porn?

July 15, 2014 (Mimesis Law) — Scott Greenfield, criminal defense attorney and blogger at Simple Justice, talks with Lee Pacchia about some of the problems he sees in passing laws criminalizing revenge porn. In light of the rise in cyberbullying, eleven states have recently passed revenge porn laws making the distribution of sexually explicit material without the consent of the subject a criminal offense often punishable with prison time. Greenfield contends that this current crop of statutes are written in a way that could unfairly target adolescents, paparazzi and the tech industry for activities undeserving of punishment.
