BigLaw Recruiter: We Didn’t Kill Dewey & LeBoeuf

Jan. 21, 2015 (Mimesis Law) — Jon Lindsey, partner at recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa, talks with Lee Pacchia about the market for talent among the world’s largest law firms. Asked why recruiters get blamed for the demise of law firms such as Dewey & LeBoeuf, Jon contends that recruiters aren’t responsible for bad management decisions. “We’re not vultures, we’re the Coast Guard…we’re picking the survivors out of the water…by the time the recruiters were calling in force it had already been a year since [Dewey & LeBoeuf] was in desperate, desperate trouble.” Jon also talks about why there are so few African-American partners at large law firms in the United States.
