How Ed O’Bannon Could Shake Up The Big Ten
August 25, 2014 (Mimesis Law) — Marc Edelman, professor at Baruch College, talks with Lee Pacchia and Steve Olenick about Ed O’Bannon’s lawsuit and what college athletics will look like in the event the NCAA loses the ability to enforce rules in place prohibiting the payment of student athletes. Edelman says that if the NCAA loses on appeal and fails to gain an antitrust exemption in front of Congress, the organization will lose power and influence to the individual college athletic conferences. When it comes to paying athletes, Edelman reasons that conferences like the SEC, Ivy League and Big Ten are all going to have different views on the matter.
