How a Reluctance to Deport Pop Stars Strengthens US Immigration Policy
Mar. 13, 2014 — Lenni Benson, professor at New York Law School and Director of the Safe Passage Project, talks about the general reluctance within the American immigration system to deport sports and entertainment professionals. Benson contends that while this leniency with celebrities can create a double standard within immigration policy, there are some beneficial aspects to giving courts discretion.
Benson also talks about the Safe Passage Project’s mission to provide children with legal representation in deportation proceedings.
